Springtime but still cold...

The flowers on the Camelia tree are so beautiful, like perfect pink flowers made of porcelain or marsipan.... The perfectness that the japanese people just love.

Back in town... back to normal days...

Saturday, March 28, 2009

I have spent an evening and half a day in Kyoto...

Old wooden houses in Kyoto.

Image from the hotel Grand Prince, Kyoto.

It looked like a nice Ryokan...

There are some nice areas in Kyoto. Along the river we found these beautiful old wooden houses with amazing entrances. Here you can find very nice restaurants and hotels also. Now it is high season and everything was fully booked, so we ended up a bit outside at the Grand Prince hotel, which was nice anyway....I liked the interiour design.
(But Kyoto is not a place for teenage girls... one of my girls was so bored that we went back with an earlier train...)

In a pink cloud (soon)

As I wrote before... it is cherry blossom period.. Sakura. Everyday now I see more and more small pink  and white flowers here in Tokyo. It is so beautiful to see the streets filled with all these trees in full bloom...(that will happen after some more days). Under each tree you see lots of people with a camera. Today I will send two Sakura gifts to friends in Italy and in Norway. Small cakes with pink flowers inside... There are so many products around right now with the Sakura theme, cakes, drinks, candy, textile etc etc.

Cute...

I do not remember where I found these cuties.... maybe Milk magazine...

Spring celebration everywhere....Sakura products and bars everywhere

Tokyo is so amazing these days...spring and sakura everywhere...
Sakura is cherryblossom time... it starts around 20 of mars... when the first tree have more than 5 flowers in bloom... normally it ends after two weeks, if it not is raining too much.
In a Sakura bar they serve everythink in pink... like pink champange and rice with cherryblossom... In some of the parks they drink beer and sake under the cherryblossom trees...
It is a big party for everyone who likes white or pink small flowers.
